WILDLIFE DEFENDERS, a program of Bridges for Brain Injury, visited Westminster on March 12, 2017. The presenters are people who are recovering from, or learning to overcome, traumatic brain injury or other debilitating circumstances.
Practicing and honing speaking skills, improving social skills, and learning about the animals is part of the healing therapy of Wildlife Defenders. Traveling to speak to various groups and agencies spreads awareness and encourages preservation of the wildlife on our planet. Thank you, Wildlife Defenders!

THE FAITH IN PLAIN ENGLISH
This column exists to help take the mystery out of "Christian-ese" and to make the faith a little more understandable and a little less intimidating.
These two terms are often confused. But it's really quite simple. "Denomination" usually refers to a sub-group of the Christian faith, such as Methodists, Lutherans, Presbyterians, Catholics, etc. An "inter-denominational" event is one in which different denominations of the Christian faith participate.
"Faith traditions" usually refers to the various world religions, such as Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, etc. An "inter-faith" event would include people from more than one faith.
Here in Elmira, there are opportunities for both. The Elmira Clergy plan two inter-denominational services each year, one on Ash Wednesday and one on World Communion Sunday.
There is also a group called STIC, Southern Tier Inter-faith Coalition, which provides opportunities for people of different faiths to work together and learn from each other.
